Hey Townhallers,
I've written about this subject before over at the
American Federalist Blog but I'll briefly cover it here and hope you'll peruse the archives at the AFB for more on the subject.
To preserve this Republic is going to take effort on the behalf of citizens like yourself in two main areas. These are education and action. We're not guaranteed the Republic, for the record. We've been in a long slow slide into socialism for some time now, and there's no promises for tomorrow. Success isn't inevitable.
The first part of education is ourselves; we need to have a very good working understanding of how this Republic was structured, and just as importantly, why. We need to promote this education in others, both adults and children. If the people understand their philosophical heritage, they are less likely to squander it, or to let some demagogue undermine that heritage.
And eventually, we need action. We need to push away from the desk and stop typing. We need to get involved in the local political party, and get like-minded people to join with us. We need to do what we can to change the conversation and make the party chiefs uncomfortable. And yes, if need be, we might need to break off and form our own "political bands" if the ones we have are insufficient to the ends of preserving the Republic. We just might need to pledge our own "Lives, Fortunes and Sacred Honor" as those brave Patriots of old did.
Do we have the guts to do it? I think Americans have been duped for a long time. The educational system teaches us that our heritage isn't special anymore, and the media acts as a fifth column to undermine everything that is traditionally American. But all that said, the American people aren't dummies. Regular people still teach their kids right versus wrong, and the sterner stuff within us can't be silent for long.
Thanks for stopping by, and take heart knowing that danger and deliverance make their advance together, and it is only the final push that one comes out ahead of the other.
