Blog Roll

Mothballed

Hey Townhallers,

Given my numerous other activities, I don't have the time to devote to another blog like I once thought I had (check out the last time I posted here as evidence of that).  The American Federalist Blog Part II is therefore going on permanent dormant status.

I still do all my posting at the American Federalist Blog - and comment on the blogs that I link up through that site.  If you find this site, hopefully it piques your interest enough to come on over and visit.  If you're a conservative, you'll be pleased, and from time to time, challenged.  If you're a liberal, you'll probably freak out and need therapy..., but just sooner than you inevitably would have.  Also, if you're a traitor liberal, might I make a suggestion?  Try organized religion.  Really, any will do better than your current Godless existence, but for salvation I might recommend Christianity (plus Islam is on the way out, big time).

God Bless America!

The Two Ingredients

Hey Townhallers,

I've written about this subject before over at the American Federalist Blog but I'll briefly cover it here and hope you'll peruse the archives at the AFB for more on the subject.

To preserve this Republic is going to take effort on the behalf of citizens like yourself in two main areas.  These are education and action.  We're not guaranteed the Republic, for the record.  We've been in a long slow slide into socialism for some time now, and there's no promises for tomorrow.  Success isn't inevitable.

The first part of education is ourselves; we need to have a very good working understanding of how this Republic was structured, and just as importantly, why.  We need to promote this education in others, both adults and children.  If the people understand their philosophical heritage, they are less likely to squander it, or to let some demagogue undermine that heritage.

And eventually, we need action.  We need to push away from the desk and stop typing.  We need to get involved in the local political party, and get like-minded people to join with us.  We need to do what we can to change the conversation and make the party chiefs uncomfortable.  And yes, if need be, we might need to break off and form our own "political bands" if the ones we have are insufficient to the ends of preserving the Republic.  We just might need to pledge our own "Lives, Fortunes and Sacred Honor" as those brave Patriots of old did.

Do we have the guts to do it?  I think Americans have been duped for a long time.  The educational system teaches us that our heritage isn't special anymore, and the media acts as a fifth column to undermine everything that is traditionally American.  But all that said, the American people aren't dummies.  Regular people still teach their kids right versus wrong, and the sterner stuff within us can't be silent for long.

Thanks for stopping by, and take heart knowing that danger and deliverance make their advance together, and it is only the final push that one comes out ahead of the other.

What's an American Federalist?

Hey Townhallers, this is my first post on Townhall.  I've been blogging for more than a year at http://americanfederalist.blogspot.com/ and just recently checked out some of the blogging going on here at Townhall.

First of all, Townhall is a great resource for Conservatives.  Secondly, we need all the friendship and support we can get, right?

I'll copy some good posts to this blog when I put them up at http://americanfederalist.blogspot.com/, but I think this space will be used more to direct people to the "Big Show" as I like to call it.

Oh, yeah!  I almost forgot...

The title of this post is a question that needs answering.  While I admire Federalists for their consistency on the proper balance (a term you're going to see a lot of at the Big Show) between the spheres of government, this is something that can be taken too strictly and drift into absurdity.  I have heard it argued (and by some pretty prominent Presidential wannabes) that federalism is the answer for many contentious issues, such as abortion, for example (and the names of the guilty shall be withheld until such time as I deem it appropriate to de-pants them).

Yet, a truly American perspective on the issue would draw on our charter document - the Declaration of Independence.  The DoI rightly asserts that there are some rights that come to us from our Creator and they cannot be taken away or transferred to another class of people (although they can indeed be forfeited by our actions).  Yes, even if that class of people are called "mothers."

To suggest that the "states should decide" is the sort of incomplete thinking that has gotten us into trouble in the first place.  No; government at any and every level is charged with the protection of our inalienable rights.  To suggest otherwise is no different than suggesting that the states should have decided the issue of slavery.  For the record, suggesting that as the solution in either case is patently stupid.

Well, I welcome comments and challenges, if any.  Bear with me as I work the kinks out of this new blogging format (new for me at least).  And do stop by the main site and say hello to me and my "brothers."
